This hotel (bed and breakfast only at this time of year) was perfect in terms of accessibility, being 5 minutes from the Porta Nuova station in Verona. We used it as a base for journeys to other towns during our five-day stay, and for visits to places of interest in Verona. We had a very good twin room to the back. Beds turned down in the evening with extremely comfortable mattresses. Clean sheets and towels of best quality every second day. Each room had fridge with a selection of drinks for which we paid as we went along.
Ample breakfast though we had to ask for stronger coffee. Though buffet-style the lady who looked after it was always ready to provide for our needs. It was good to know that we could safely leave our possessions when we went out every day.
The reception staff were extremely helpful and charming, looked after our valuables.
I would certainly recommend it to anyone travelling on their own who wished to make use of public transport to get about, though I understand there were also free parking facilities for drivers.
Top Tip
Verona is itself a fascinating city with architecture from Roman times through the Renaissance and up to the present day. The old city has little traffic and a world-famous Roman Arena as well as many beautiful
buildings from later times. Not to be missed is the Castel Vecchio which has an excellent Museum. You can buy from the Hotel reception a Verona card which allows access to Museums, monuments and public transport. Being so close to the station it is possible to use the excelooent local train service to other cities, to pick up airpost buses or to connect with international trains. They will also provide you with a street map which shows hos the city is set in the curves of the river Adige. Very near and accessiuble is Lake Garda which offers lovely boat trips through enchanting scenery, to little towns on the shore.
It repays some homework to help the visitor decide on excursions, and sight-seeing if not with an organised group. On one's own steam it is easy to get about with help from the excellent Information services in the city and in other places of interest.
